Fort Street Family – North Rim Glass Studio

As the son of Fort Street Studio co-founder Brad Davis, Jared Davis is no stranger to the art world.  With his wife and design partner, Nicole, another great husband and wife business collaborative was born in North Rim Glass Studio , based in Crawford, CO.

Jared and Nicole are in New York City this week for the Architectural Digest Home Show where they are presenting their “Swedish Birch Series” of art glass.  These one of a kind objects are artistic representations of the Swedish White Birch bark that the Davis’ were surrounded with during their time in Sweden, where Jared studied and trained under Swedish glass masters Jan-Erik Reitman and Sven Ake Carlsson in 1996.  Each piece demonstrates the variations of black and white in the bark itself, which is then complimented by rich shades of reds, browns and greens.  “Just outside the door to our guest house was a path that led through a clearing of these birches where we would often take walks.  We were captivated by the various shades in the mosses and lichens that grew on the bark”, says Jared.
